 Analysis: The team that runs this value-oriented fund is with the Bear Stearns investment house of New York so perhaps it follows logically that more than a third of the portfolio is in financial service stocks with Citigroup and Bank of America topping the list. In fact, the portfolio reads like a Who’s Who of America’s corporate elite with names like Home Depot, Wells Fargo, P&G, ExxonMobil, Wal-Mart – you get the idea. Unfortunately, this blue-ribbon portfolio has been pretty much of a bust. In the 12 months to July 31/05, the fund lost 0.7% compared to an average gain of 6.7% for the category. The three-year number is also well below average. If you want to invest in a U.S. equity fund with imaxx, choose the companion U.S. Growth Fund.
